Let's discover Les Climats of the Burgundy vineyards !

Burgundy, its vineyards, its wolrd famous wines, its exceptional terroir-based viticulture... to the extent that Les Climats, these famous terroirs, have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In Burgundy, when dealing with a « Climat », « we don’t raise our eyes up, we look down to the ground» as the French writer Bernard Pivot says poetically.  Burgundy is the only place in the world with "Climats" which stands for a restricted vine plot. This word appeared during the 14th century to define these plots and their particular characteristics in the implantation of the first vines such as local microclimate, sun exposure, geological conditions etc. A « Climat » can be defined as the harmonisation of human work and nature, throughout centuries. This heritage is highly present in the historical towns of Beaune and Dijon, which are considered as the front doors of the Climats.

Climats gave birth to a unique patchwork of famous vineyards: this exceptional feature was the point of the inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List of the Climats of the vineyard of Burgundy, in July 2015.
